Wrists and Elder Scrolls - 27/1/2015

I'm still not up to doing blogs every day again. My wrists are sore all the time and typing is bad for them. Once my wrists are fully repaired I will continue again.

Lately I've been playing a lot of modded Skyrim and I'm in the process of modding Morrowind and Oblivion to play. I'm playing these because they support the Xbox 360 controller which is better for my hands than other games. I don't know if I shouldn't play at all though.

Resting Wrists Still / Temple of Sen / 92 Prayer - 15/1/15

So my wrist is getting worse, then better, then worse. I need to stop using the PC as much. I've unplugged my mouse so I am forced to use the Xbox controller to use it which is helping so far. I got 92 Prayer on Runescape and I completed Temple At Senntisten which required me to do like 10-15 pre-requisite quests which took ages.

Also, my computer has always zapped me a little bit but recently I took it apart and put it back together and it's really fucked with the grounding in the PC so I've decided to take it in and see if I can get it re-grounded because no matter what I do I can't seem to fix it.

CT/RSI and Spending Too Much On Games - 10/1/15

So I've spent way too much on Runescape. Way, way too much. That's all I'm going to say about that. Talking about it makes me depressed.

Also, the carpal tunnel and/or RSI has come back and it is just as bad as before. I think I'm going to have to take a legit break from gaming for a few days, but I understand why it's happening now and what is good for it. (Heat vs cold, etc.)

I'll wrap this blog up here so as to give my hands another rest but I didn't want to go another day without doing a blog.

Thanks for reading.

Microtransactions - 7/1/15

First of all I'll say that my wrists are feeling significantly better. I went to the doctor and he essentially told me to chill the hell out with the typing and clicking which I have done quite a lot. My standing desk is going fantastically and I already feel fitter after using it. I'm going to keep it for as long as I can. I still need to keep icing my wrist and doing stretches every day, for the rest of my life even, but for now the pain is mainly gone, (mainly,) and I feel a lot better.

Buying keys to spin the wheel. (Jagex's Runescape)

So today I've decided to talk about micro transactions in games. I started thinking about it when I put in a few dollars on Runescape to get some "tickets" that you use to spin a wheel and get lucky in items and sometimes experience. Honestly, my belief is that games should NOT have micro transactions for anything that is not purely cosmetic. If this is the case, then why am I now spending money on micro transactions that aren't cosmetic? Is this okay? Obviously it is hypocritical but why would I do that.

Click a box! Not that it makes a difference... (Jagex's Runescape)

Well, after contemplating it for a while, it's simply because I feel like I am disadvantaging myself for not using micro transactions. It is simply easier to throw 20 dollars at the screen and watch my character benefit, as opposed to spending 10 hours earning whatever it is, particularly because most other players are doing it this way as well.

Isn't it fair if they're also doing it? Maybe. But that still doesn't make it okay. But I think this is besides the point, I don't think games should even have the option. Such dilemmas shouldn't exist in your players minds because if that is the most of their worries then it comes down to players with more money being the more well-off players. Do you really want an in-game economy based off of the real life economy, where people who are rich in real life are also rich in-game? I think that is fucked up. Excuse my language.

My clue scroll, treasure trail reward. (Jagex's Runescape)

In other news, last night I did a treasure trail and I received a fury amulet (t) which is worth 8 million gp which is probably the largest reward I've ever received from a treasure trail, so I'm pretty stoked about that. I went to bed with a grin on my face. I also beat the Regicide and Roving Elves quest which I had put off for far too long.

Rewards for Regicide. (Jagex's Runescape)

That felt good.

Sore Wrists and Standing Desk - 3/1/14 and 4/1/14

I'm gonna do a blog for yesterday and today in one. So yesterday and today I've just been working on letting my hands feel better. This blog will also be short because of that. I didn't use the computer much today, I played a few hours at most. I got my arm massaged and I iced it for a good 2-3 hours. I also did more stretches, it's still sore though. Tomorrow I will organise an appointment. The biggest event that happened today was I turned my table into a standing up table by hoisting it up on its corners, now I must stand to use it. It's a different feeling and my feet hurt after about 20 minutes of using it but I think in time I will get used to it and it will be good for my hands and health in general.

I'll stop there because my hand is already starting to hurt. Once this is fixed I will maintain my usual blogging pattern of once every day, at the moment I think it is aggravating the pain in my wrist/s.

Thanks for reading, wish me luck.

Sore Wrists and Rust - 2/1/14

So I didn't do a blog yesterday because I woke up late and was a bit busy. My wrist still hurts like hell today but I have decided to go to the doctors about it. Not worth the risk to be honest. I'm getting super over it. I actually set up my Xbox controller so that I can use that to move my mouse and stuff, I don't know if I mentioned that in another blog. I'm actually becoming doubtful that I have carpal tunnel because it only hurts when I use my mouse, like right now while I'm typing it's pretty much fine, but I'm no expert so I'm still going to see a doctor. I can't risk it.

I actually played a bit of Rust today but it was for a friend and after 30 minutes of running around naked we couldn't even find each other so that was a waste of time. I feel like all games should have a grouping system that allows you to at least see what direction your friend is in. If it had that we would've played a lot longer.

New Years Eve and RS - 1/1/15

Happy New Years! At midnight last night I got my Runescape level from 2014 to 2015. That was my New Years Eve. I got invited to a party by a few friends but ultimately I decided I didn't want to go. I do kind of wish I had, but at the same time it's not really my scene and I had a great night talking to a mate on vent and playing RS. So yeah, as I mentioned I hit 2015 total level exactly as the timer ticked over. I'm pretty stoaked about that.

My skills before and after 12am on New Years Eve. (Jagex's Runescape.)

I also hit 99 in Attack after my 8 years of playing which I am also super excited about. The skillcape is so beautiful. I did it using Pest Control and that in itself requires lots of concentration to do. I think in a small way, these little things help me continue to improve my organization skills. I really need to work out a way to get study in there as well, though. I don't do enough of it, and I've said this every holidays and there is no excuse. Just procrastination. I should also talk about my hands and what I'm doing to prevent carpal tunnel. I actually set up my Xbox 360 controller so that I can control my computer using it. I got thinking about whether or not I should start using consoles a bit more so that my hands wouldn't get as sore, but I then realized that I could just use my controller to control my PC, which is what I'm doing. So yes, I am playing Runescape with an Xbox 360 controller and my hands feel great.

I did not play a new game today and it is becoming harder and harder to get myself off of RS which I think is a problem. I need to show some self control and log out for at least an hour every day to play another game. Diversity is key, I think. That being said I am pretty proud of myself for keeping this blog going as long as I have. I think I wont have an issue doing it every day from now on, either. I did however remember to take a break this morning and just chill. I went outside for a bit to chill with my cat and also throw the ball around a little bit so I'm happy about that.

Tomorrow will be better, although my sleeping pattern is officially "broked". Thanks for reading.
